The DocTranslate translation tool translates Microsoft Office (2003, 2007 & 2010) and OpenOffice Word, Powerpoint and Excel documents. It allows to quickly translate your documents without losing the layout.
It uses the very good Google translate or Microsoft translator services (CAUTION: Microsoft authentification with Bing AppId implemented in DocTranslate V3 is deprecated by April 1, 2012, so if you consider using DocTranslate with Microsoft API, please wait for the new version). As automatic translations can’t be perfect, translations SHOULD be enhanced by human translation.
So Doctranslate includes a Translation Memory (TM) engine; a TM engine is based on a memory of well translated source and target sentences or segments, which are reused and enriched. The duty cycle of Doctranslate is, by construction, virtuous, and can gradually improve the relevance and speed of translations.
The basic principle of Doctranslate is very simple, just select a document, ‘Source’ and ‘Target’ languages, then start the translation machine. An icon indicates that the translation is finished. This is usually a matter of seconds for mid-sized documents. A new document prefixed by the two-letter representing the target language is generated in the directory of the translated document.
That’s it, you can stop here and enjoy the translated document.
